• Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Ltd (IDC)

The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Ltd (IDC) is a self-financing, national Development Finance Institution (DFI). It was established in 1940 to promote economic growth and industrial development in South Africa.

At the IDC we recognise the importance of a dynamic private sector in securing and stimulating rapid and sustainable economic growth, creating employment and reducing poverty.

Our mandate includes the rest of the African continent and we are active throughout the entire region.  The LMRF is an independent center for learning on Local Economic Development through Monitoring and Research.

• Department of Economic Development (DED)

The Department of Economic Development (DED) is pivotal in ensuring that the desired future of the province is realized, both through the implementation of its core mandate as well as providing leadership in the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS).

• The Limpopo Local Economic Development Partnership     

The Limpopo LED Programme is a 34 million Euro initiative to support LED in the province. The programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Limpopo Department of Local Government and Housing. The main objective of the programme is to support pro-poor economic growth and job creation through an integrated approach, which supports five core areas.

•  The South African  LED Network

The LED Network strives to bridge this divide by promoting discussion and exchange between the various kinds of LED practitioners to build a body of knowledge of what works when, which approaches can be used, and how to mobilise other local stakeholders to actively engage in LED processes. The Network also function at a provincial level and arrange networking, exchange and training events in all the provinces where LED practitioners can connect to others and where their technical skills can be developed. There will also be national events where inter-provincial cross fertilisation and networking can occur.

The LED Network was founded by several leading South African LED Experts and is being developed to represent the interests of all LED Practitioners in South Africa. The establishment of the LED Network was made possible with financial and technical support from the GTZ LED project.
