Today I regard myself as a real farmer!

Heifer-South Africa helped me with training and 2 sows in 2003. My pigs multiplied in a manner that amazed me - I was able to make money through selling their offspring. In 2005, we received egg laying hens, which enabled me to feed my children as well as generate an income through egg sales to the local community. Since having chickens, orders for eggs are rolling in from all around my village and surrounding villages. Due to this demand, my husband and I decided to sell some pigs and increase the number of chickens. Presently we have 100 laying hens, which we keep at our home. We bought cement and built a chicken house out of income from egg sales - we now need a second house ! Every month I am making a profit of approximately R1 100 ($160) and am able to save R600 ($85) into our bank account. Today I regard myself as a real farmer.
